I'm excited to continue my work with Mion on internet videos, and work with Rapid Transit to bring fresh content to the world-wide paddling community. I'm also interested in continuing to contribute to LVM and the Epicocity Project, and I look forward to producing my own extreme kayaking instructional video after I graduate.
Spheel:
Kayaking is one of my favourite things to do in my life, and one thing that is difficult about the sport of kayaking is that it is so individual. We are able to experience these incredible places, and the sport gives us all a great sense of happiness and accomplishment, but how can we possibly explain this to family members, significant others, or non-paddling friends? That's where filming comes in for me. I love being able to edit sections in an attempt to do some justice to the sport and the incredible places that it takes us to. I really enjoy watching and producing videos with some type of storyline, that delve a bit more into the personal aspect of the sport, rather than just pure paddling porn(although that has its place as well). Another purpose that videography serves for me is the ability to develop my own skills through watching myself and others on video. I grew up wearing out my VHS copies of Dashboard Burrito, Retendo, and Play Daze, and I am 100% certain that analyzing videos has played a large role in my own progression as an athlete. Headcams and POV perspective video is invaluable for this in my opinion.
